The  Cause

Too few veterans know about the health complications associated with Agent Orange and defoliants, their possible health risks, and their rights.

Our mission is to raise public and veteran awareness about Agent Orange and other Vietnam War chemical defoliant-related health complications. We aim to educate veterans on their rights and health. Through education and advocacy we hope to create a better understanding and provide assistance for those affected.

We provide resources and all the information veterans need to seek help: to understand their health, access healthcare, cover their expenses, and apply for disability and caregiver status. We are also working towards offering resources for understanding common health complications related to defoliants, the ramifications of Agent Orange/defoliants, current clinical research, ways to get involved, legislation, efforts for more legislation regarding the protection of Agent Orange victims.

Our Why

Agent Owareness was created and is run by 3 siblings. We are the grandchildren of two Vietnam War veterans. Our paternal grandfather passed away from a rare parkinsonism that caused his brain to rapidly deteriorate, which was traced back to his time in Vietnam and exposure to Agent Orange. Our maternal grandfather was recently diagnosed with Cortico-Basal Degeneration, a slower acting parkinsonism that also causes his brain to deteriorate, which was caused by his time with defoliants in the Korean Demilitarized zone during the Vietnam War (We interviewed him! You can access this below or on the interview page).

We have seen, firsthand the effects of Vietnam defoliants, and we are lucky that our grandparents knew to seek help and compensation.

Not all are so lucky. There are many veterans who are suffering from disorders relating to their time serving and have no idea. This organization was founded to change that.

We are passionate and dedicated to making an impact on this issue that is so close to our hearts.
